A Study of Depressive Trends in the Army Prisoners


Abstract
For the purpose of evaluation of depression, 236 inmates and 203 Army soldiers were studied using Self-Rating Depression Scale devised by Zung, from 22nd to 23rd August 1981.
Man depression scores obtained from each group were tested statistically. The results were as follows:
1. The mean scores were 4.5.03¡¾9.75 in the subject and 39.61¡¾8.94 in the control (p2. In severity of depression, confusion ranked first and retardation next in the subject while decreased libid and confusion were first and
second in the control group.
3. There was signifgicant difference between the subject and the control group in all depressive equivalents syptoms (p<0.001).
